The objective of the Tourism and Leisure Management study programme is to train practitioners so that they can consider, organise, manage and sell travels, leisure and business trips of different duration while suggesting appropriate means of transport and accommodation as well as ensuring the organisation of leisure activities on site.
Their knowledge of tourist, cultural, natural and heritage resources, of economic, legal and social context and of stakeholders in the field, enable the undergraduate in tourism to join the various branches of the industry.
The Bachelors in tourism have a watch and relay function to satisfy target groups' and tourists' expectations as well as supply, to monitor the evolution of communication and information tools and supports and adapt their working methods to these evolutions. They include to their activities the code of ethics for tourism, concerns and practices of sustainable tourism as well as legal requirements.
The profession of the Bachelor in tourism requires to be a good listener, empathetic with analysis, negotiation and persuasion skills within a multilingual working environment.
The Bachelor in Tourism and Leisure Management's study programme is based on the following essential elements: language learning, communication and entertainment techniques, cultural and commercial management of free time, tourist legislation's approach, knowledge of the various civilisations and use of modern technical means.
The adjustment of tourist supply to demand as well as the design and production of new products in the sector are the main purposes of the training.
The training also focuses on the ability to assist, lead and guide groups in Belgium and abroad.
Therefore, an in-depth study of languages (German, English, Spanish, Dutch) as well as the use of office automation and multimedia complete the study programme.
A four-month internship at the end of third year will enable students to discover professional life and thus to comprehend the different aspects of tourism-related professions through practice.
In addition, trips and travels will be organised throughout the three years of studies. To do so, a financial contribution will be asked to students.
