Studying abroad is a dream for many students. However, it is essential to keep feet on the ground and be well prepared in order to carry out this project under the best possible conditions.
Indeed, university exchange means a great deal of organisation. Above all, it can be very useful to know the country well and understand a bit of its language. You will also have to find and keep useful addresses: embassy, consulate, chosen school or university, student unions and other bodies which will help you to find accommodation, a job if necessary, etc. You will have to deal with all administrative aspects of the trip before your departure.
The website Studyrama will guide you to the best approach for your travel plans, whatever country you have chosen.

You have probably heard about the partnership between the airline Ryanair and Erasmus Student Network, the international association without lucrative purpose.
For more information, you will find below all the answers to questions you might have if you plan to book a trip under an international mobility programme.
- What does it mean for me, concretely?
Partnerships with ESN at local, national and international levels are made to offer discounts to Erasmus students who are also ESN members on some services and products. There is an agreement between ESN Belgium and Brussels Airlines as well as with Ryanair.
- How to become an ESN member as an Erasmus student?
To do so, you will have to buy the ESN card which is sold at the beginning of each semester by local departments (ESN Mons).
ESN cards are sold in the exchange destination city because it is a member card for Erasmus and international students and trainees (incoming).
If you plan to travel under the Erasmus programme and you are interested in getting the member card, you will find the local department closest to your destination city via the following link: https://esn.org/sections.
Ryanair’s conditions are detailed on the same website.
- Can I get the ESN card if I am not an Erasmus student or trainee?
No.
- What are the specific conditions of this partnership?
Since September 2017, holders of the ESN card can benefit from 15% discount on 8 flights during the year of validity of the card as well as a free fifteen-kilo checked luggage for each of these flights. However, these flights must be booked several weeks in advance and not during the high season which is from 15 June to 1 September.
